Nov. 18 (Bloomberg) -- Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez became the oldest-ever winner on golf’s European Tour today with victory in the UBS Hong Kong Open.

Jimenez, at 48 years and 318 days, scored a final-round 65, 5-under par. His 15-under total put him a shot ahead of Sweden’s Fredrik Andersson Hed.

The previous oldest winner on the tour was Ireland’s Des Smyth, who was 48 years and 34 days old when he took the 2001 Madeira Islands Open. It was Jimenez’s first European Tour victory since the 2010 Omega European Masters, and his third win at the Hong Kong event.

He takes a prize of 260,638 euros ($332,000)

England’s Luke Donald scored a final-round 68, 3-under par, to win the Japan Tour Dunlop Phoenix event in Miyazaki. He finished on 16-under and will now overtake Tiger Woods to go second in the World Golf Ranking behind Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy.

Sweden’s Henrik Stenson won the South African Open by three strokes at Serengeti, finishing with a par round for 17-under overall. George Coetzee of South Africa was second.
