Ecuador Sept. Cocoa Exports Rise 8.6% to 13,234 Tons, Group Says

Cocoa exports from Ecuador, the world’s top grower of flavored beans used in fine chocolate, rose to 13,234 metric tons in September, an 8.6 percent increase from last year, the National Cocoa Exporters Association said today in an e-mailed statement.

Shipments rose from 12,187 metric tons in September 2011, according to data on the website of the association known as Anecacao.
