Sotheby’s Wine Sale Led by Montrachet, Lafite Nets $2.3 Million

Sotheby’s sold a total 1.45 million pounds ($2.3 million) of wine in London yesterday, with a six-bottle lot of Montrachet 1997 Domaine de la Romanee Conti Burgundy white and 12 bottles of Chateau Lafite-Rothschild 2000 Bordeaux red taking the top slots at 12,925 pounds each including buyer’s premium, it said in an e-mailed statement.

The third most-expensive lot comprised four bottles each of Chateau Latour, Chateau Margaux, Chateau Haut Brion and Chateau Petrus 2000, which fetched 12,338 pounds, while the fourth slot was taken by a case of Petrus 1987 at 9,165 pounds, it said.
