Oct. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Sharon Bowles, chairwoman of the European Parliament’s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee, applied to be governor of the Bank of England, the Financial Times reported, without saying how it obtained the information.
Bowles is the sole female candidate and is seen as a long shot for the job, the newspaper said today. Other applicants for the role include Bank of England Deputy Governor Paul Tucker, Financial Services Authority Chairman Adair Turner, and John Vickers, chairman of the Independent Commission on Banking, the FT reported.
