Oct. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Manchester United won 3-0 at Newcastle today to climb to second in English soccer’s Premier League, while Tottenham beat Aston Villa 2-0 for its fourth straight victory in the competition.

Jonny Evans, Patrice Evra and Tom Cleverley scored for United, which sits above rival Manchester City on goal difference. Chelsea holds a four-point lead over both clubs.

In today’s other games, Liverpool was held to a 0-0 home draw by Stoke, while Southampton and Fulham tied 2-2.
