Sept. 28 (Bloomberg) -- India finished 140-7 against Australia in their Super Eight game at cricket’s World Twenty20 championship in Sri Lanka.

Irfan Pathan scored 31 runs and Suresh Raina made 26 for India, which won the toss in the Group 2 game in Colombo. Shane Watson took 3-34 for Australia.

Pakistan beat South Africa by two wickets in today’s opening Group 2 game. Umar Akmal scored 43 runs and Umar Gul had 32 as Pakistan finished 136-8 in response to South Africa’s 133-6.

The World Twenty20, generally held every two years, is the championship of the game’s shortest form. The Super Eight consists of two groups of four, with the top two teams in each advancing to the semifinals.
