Sept. 27 (Bloomberg) -- UBS AG, Switzerland’s biggest bank, hired Jasper Tans as a managing director for its equity capital markets team in London starting Oct. 1, according to an internal memo obtained by Bloomberg News.
Tans will report to Darrell Uden and Chicco di Stasi, the co-heads of ECM in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He will be responsible for Scandinavia, Benelux and financial institutions clients, as well as providing specialist coverage, according to the memo.
Companies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa raised $46 billion in equity offerings so far this year, compared with $82.3 billion in the same period a year ago, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Goldman Sachs Group Inc. ranks first among managers of equity sales in the region while UBS is seventh, the data show.
Tans became a partner at Goldman in 2010, leading the Japan financing group, and returned to London last year.
