Sept. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Nadine, a storm in the Atlantic Ocean, strengthened to become the eighth hurricane of the year in the region, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The category 1 hurricane, weakest on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane wind scale which goes to category 5, has sustained winds of 75 miles per hour (120 kilometers per hour), and is located about 725 miles east of Bermuda, according to an advisory issued yesterday at 11 p.m. New York time.

Nadine is moving north-northeast at 14 miles per hour and is forecast to accelerate toward the east later today and tomorrow, away from the U.S., according to the advisory. The hurricane currently poses no threat to land.
