Sept. 14 (Bloomberg) -- Turkey has appealed to the United Nations for financial and humanitarian aid for the 80,000 Syrian refugees now in Turkish camps, Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay said.

Turkey has already spent about $200 million on housing and looking after the refugees from the civil war in neighboring Syria, Atalay said in an interview at his office in Ankara today. Earlier, the minister discussed the refugee situation with Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie and UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres.
