Troika Seeks More Detail on Planned Budget Cuts, Stournaras Says

Sept. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Greek Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras said talks with the so-called troika of inspectors from the euro area, European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund began in a “good climate” and the inspectors have requested more detail on some of the 11.5 billion euros ($14.7 billion) of spending cuts for the next two years.

“We are at the beginning,” Stournaras told reporters at the conclusion of the meeting in Athens today. He said a general discussion on the measures was held with the officials.

Stournaras is to due to brief Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and the leaders of the two coalition parties supporting Samaras’s government at 7 p.m. in Athens later today.
