Sept. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Scotland and Denmark both played 0-0 ties at home in their opening European qualifying matches for the 2014 soccer World Cup.
Scotland drew with Serbia at Hampden Park in Glasgow in a Group A match, while Denmark and the Czech Republic finished goalless in Copenhagen.
Last night, Belgium beat Wales 2-0 and Croatia defeated Macedonia 1-0 in Group A matches, while Armenia defeated Malta 1-0 and Bulgaria and Italy played a 2-2 tie in Group B.
The next round of European matches will be played Sept. 11. Among the 24 schedule games, world champion Spain begins its qualifying campaign by visiting Georgia.
