Sept. 4 (Bloomberg) -- Stoke signed former England striker Michael Owen to a one-year contract, pending approval from the Premier League board, the club said on its website.
Owen, 32, was a free agent after being released by Manchester United at the end of last season. He’s scored 221 goals in 473 games during his career with Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle and United.
Owen also has 40 goals in 89 games for England, ranking fourth all-time for the country behind Bobby Charlton’s 49, Gary Lineker’s 48 and Jimmy Greaves’s 44.
