Aug. 29 (Bloomberg) -- Celtic defeated Helsingborg 2-0 to advance to the group stage of soccer’s Champions League.
Gary Hopper and Victory Wanyama scored in Glasgow as Celtic completed a 4-0 win in the two-match qualifying playoff. The win sends Celtic into the group stage of Europe’s elite club competition for the first time since 2008.
CFR Club beat Basel 1-0 to complete a 3-1 win in their playoff, Spartak Moscow won 3-2 on aggregate over Fenerbahce following a 1-1 draw and Dynamo Kiev also advanced by a 4-3 count despite losing 2-1 to Monchengladbach. Lille and Copenhagen are playing extra time tied 1-1.
The draw for the 32-team group stage will be held tomorrow in Monaco.
