Aug. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Russian Vera Zvonareva, who lost the U.S. Open final to Kim Clijsters in 2010, dropped out of this year’s tournament with a viral illness, U.S. Tennis Association spokesman Tim Curry said.
Zvonareva, 27, was a Wimbledon finalist in 2010, losing to Serena Williams. She is ranked 16th in the world.
