Hungarian Government Debt Falls to 77.6% of GDP as Forint Gains

Aug. 17 (Bloomberg) -- Hungary’s gross government debt fell to 77.6 percent of gross domestic product at the end of the second quarter from 79 percent in March as the forint appreciated, the central bank said today.

The debt decreased to 22,173 billion forint ($98 billion) from 22,399 forint, with the gains in the forint cutting debt by 253 billion forint by reducing the forint value of debt denominated in foreign currencies, the central bank said in a statement on its website.
