Atlantic, Caribbean Systems Followed for Tropical Growth

A low-pressure system in the Atlantic between the Cape Verde Islands and the Bahamas and a tropical wave in the Caribbean north of Curacao have been given 10 percent chances of becoming tropical cyclones in two days.

In the Pacific far at sea off Manzanillo, Mexico, Tropical Storm Hector weakened to 40 miles (65 kilometers) per hour winds and is no threat to land, the National Hurricane Center said today in an advisory. It gave a system off southern Mexico’s Gulf of Tehuantepec that’s producing showers and moving west-northwest a 20 percent chance of tropical formation.
