South Korea Has 84% of Nuclear-Power Capacity Online

July 24 (Bloomberg) -- South Korea has 17 nuclear reactors in operation, producing 16,245 megawatts of power, or about 84 percent of total capacity, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Two additional plants are undergoing trials with 2,098 megawatts of capacity online.

The following table shows the status of the nation’s 21 reactors with a combined regular capacity of 19,259 megawatts and two that are in trial operation by state-run Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. as of today. The date for the Kori-1 reactor to resume production will be decided after the operator consults with the government and gets the support of local residents, according to the Ministry of Knowledge Economy.
