July 23 (Bloomberg) -- Ukraine’s farmers harvested 15.9 million metric tons of grain this season to July 20, agricultural researcher UkrAgroConsult said.
Average grain yields declined to 2.22 tons a hectare (2.47 acres) from 2.89 tons a hectare a year earlier, the Kiev-based researcher said in e-mailed statement today.
Wheat, including winter and spring crop, accounted for 10.6 million tons with an average yield of 2.46 tons a hectare, according to the researcher. The barley harvest was 4.7 million tons with an average yield 1.85 tons a hectare.
Grain was harvested from 7.2 million hectares this season compared with 6.69 million hectares a year earlier, the researcher said.
