Taiwanese Stocks: Hon Hai Precision, Inotera, Nanya, TSMC

July 19 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Taipei.

The Taiex Index rose 1.4 percent to 7,148.57, its biggest gain this month.

Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. (2317 TT), the maker of Apple Inc. iPads, added 1.5 percent to NT$88.3. The company is in talks to get seats on the board of Japanese electronics maker Sharp Corp., Simon Hsing, a spokesman for Hon Hai, said by phone yesterday.

Inotera Memories Inc. (3474 TT), a chipmaker, lost 2 percent to NT$5.42. The company said it posted a second-quarter loss of NT$2.98 billion ($99.4 million).

Nanya Technology Corp. (2408 TT), Taiwan’s second-largest dynamic random-access memory chipmaker, slumped 6 percent to NT$2.03, the lowest close since Dec. 19. The company said it reported a second-quarter loss of NT$6.69 billion.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (2330 TT), the world’s largest maker of custom chips, advanced 3.6 percent to NT$77.5. TSMC reported second-quarter net income of NT$41.8 billion after the market closed. The profit is the highest in six quarters.
