July 19 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies had unusual price changes in Bogota trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as of the close of trading.
The IGBC Index rose 0.4 percent to 13,723.39. The Colcap Index rose 0.3 percent to 1,671.02.
Empresa de Energia de Bogota SA (EEB CB), Colombia’s second-biggest electricity distributor, rose 1.4 percent to 1,050 pesos after jumping as much as 3.4 percent earlier in the day. The company announced that second-quarter profit doubled from a year earlier.
Helm Bank SA (PFBHELMB CB) rose 1.6 percent to 518 pesos, extending its two-day rally to 7.5 percent. Diario Financiero newspaper reported yesterday that Chile’s Corpbanca is in talks to buy the Colombian lender. Corpbanca declined to answer e-mailed questions on the report. Helm Bank didn’t respond to a phone message requesting comment.
Oil advanced to the highest level in eight weeks on growing concern that instability in the Middle East will disrupt supplies from the region responsible for about 30 percent of world production.
Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp. (PREC CB), which operates the country’s largest oil field, rose 1.1 percent to 40,660 pesos.
