Chilean Stocks: Cap, Iansa, La Polar and SQM Were Active

July 18 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as of the close in Santiago.

The Ipsa index rose 0.4 percent to 4,406.39. The MSCI Chile index advanced 0.3 percent to 2,463.62.

Cap SA (CAP CC) advanced 1.8 percent to 19,068 pesos, its biggest gain in almost six weeks. Chile’s largest steel producer and iron miner rose in line with base metal prices.

Empresas Iansa SA (IANSA CC) advanced 4.7 percent to 40 pesos, its biggest increase in four months. Chile’s largest sugar producer has surged in the past two days after Santiago-based brokerage IM Trust SA initiated coverage with a buy recommendation.

Empresas La Polar SA (LAPOLAR CC) fell 2.9 percent to 306 pesos. The department store operator filed to sell as many as 750 million new shares to raise about $246 million, according to a statement on the website of Chile’s securities regulator.

Soc. Quimica & Minera de Chile SA (SQM/B CC) rose 0.6 percent to 28,986 pesos, its highest price in five months. Chile’s largest fertilizer maker rose after Agrium Inc., a farm retailer, said second-quarter profit was 15 percent higher than forecast and that its outlook is “very positive.”
