July 9 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Taipei.
The Taiex Index fell 0.8 percent to 7,309.96, the biggest drop since June 8.
Gaming companies: Astro Corp. (3064 TT), which markets motherboards and software for commercial arcade game machines, climbed 1.1 percent to NT$45, the highest close since May 15. International Games System Co. (3293 TT) advanced 1.5 percent to NT$135. Residents of Taiwan’s Matsu islands voted in favor of casinos to help attract tourists.
E Ink Holdings Inc. (8069 TT) tumbled 7 percent to NT$32.1, the biggest drop since Dec. 6. The supplier to Amazon.com Inc.’s Kindle said June sales slumped 71 percent from a year earlier to NT$532.5 million ($17.8 million), according to a statement.
HTC Corp. (2498 TT), Asia’s second-largest smartphone maker, retreated 5.6 percent to NT$304, the lowest close since March 15, 2010. Second-quarter net income declined 58 percent from a year earlier to NT$7.4 billion, HTC said in a statement on its website on July 6.
