Peru Stocks: Atacocha, Buenaventura, Cerro Verde Were Active

The following companies had unusual price changes in Peru trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices are as of the close of trading.

The Lima General Index fell 0.8 percent to 20,434.36. The MSCI All Peru Capped Index retreated 0.6 percent to 2,723.52.

Industrial-metal producers declined amid concern the euro zone’s deepening debt crisis will hurt global growth.

Cia. Minera Atacocha SA (ATACOBC1 PE), the Lima-based silver and zinc mining company, dropped 4.4 percent to 43 centimos, a three-year low. Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde SA (CVERDEC1 PE), the nation’s third-largest copper producer, fell 1.4 percent to $36.50, the most in three weeks. Panoro Minerals Ltd. (PML PE), a Canadian copper and gold exploration company, sank 3.1 percent to 63 cents.

Candente Copper Corp. (DNT PE) was the Lima General Index’s biggest gainer, rising 3.8 percent to 55 cents, after a Peruvian municipality granted the Vancouver-based company rights to drill at the Canariaco copper deposit. Candente earlier rose 9.4 percent, the most in five weeks.

Cia. de Minas Buenaventura SAA (BVN PE), the country’s biggest precious-metals miner, rose 1.4 percent to $37.98, the most in a week after gold advanced in New York.
