July 8 (Bloomberg) -- United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon recommended that Afghanistan “wisely” use $16 billion in aid for the country from international donors.
He spoke to reporters in Tokyo today after a conference on Afghanistan in the city.
On Afghanistan: “The UN will work in promoting stability. We will also help to promote human rights and especially marginalized people - women and girls.”
On Syria: “We have to implement these security-council resolutions, including the six-point plan.”
On problems in South China Sea: “I sincerely hope that these situations can be resolved through diplomatic negotiations and dialogue.”
On Japan’s desire to become a permanent security council member: “I’m very aware of Japan’s aspirations. Japan has been working very hard.”
