July 2 (Bloomberg) -- The benchmark BUX index fell 0.4 percent to 17,277.24 by the close in Budapest.
The following were among the most active shares in the Hungarian market today. Stock symbols follow company names.
E-Star Alternativ Nyrt. (ESTAR HB), a Hungarian energy company, dropped as much as 4 percent and last traded 0.8 percent lower at 1,240 forint. The government said late on June 29 it is suspending some payments to E-Star while reviewing contracts taken over from municipalities.
OTP Bank Nyrt. (OTP HB), Hungary’s largest lender, fell 1.9 percent to 3,500 forint. The country’s central bank today said a plan to tax commercial bank deposits at the Magyar Nemzeti Bank would infringe on the monetary authority’s independence.
