June 30 (Bloomberg) -- Defending champion Petra Kvitova beat Varvara Lepchenko of the U.S. 6-1, 6-0 to advance to the fourth round of the Wimbledon tennis championships.
Kvitova, of the Czech Republic, will next face No. 24 Francesca Schiavone of Italy, who beat Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic 6-0, 6-4 at the All England Club in London.
Anna Ivanovic, the 14th seed from Serbia, was a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 winner over Germany’s Julia Goerges. In the men’s draw, unseeded American Brian Baker beat France’s Benoit Paire 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 to move into the fourth round.
