The SET Index rose 0.3 percent to 1,151.09, the first advance in four days. The gauge has dropped 3.8 percent this quarter, poised for the steepest slide since the three months ended Sept. 30. The measure has gained 12 percent this year.
Advanced Info Service Pcl (ADVANC TB), Thailand’s biggest mobile-phone company, added 1.4 percent to 176.5 baht. The National Broadcasting & Telecommunications Commission yesterday set a reserve auction price for nine so-called third-generation mobile-phone licenses at 4.5 billion baht ($141.4 million).
Indorama Ventures Pcl (IVL TB), the nation’s largest maker of polyester, climbed 0.9 percent to 27.25 baht, the first gain in five days. Cotton for December delivery on ICE Futures U.S. in New York climbed 1.3 percent yesterday. Polyester is a substitute for cotton.
Sri Trang Agro-Industry Pcl (STA TB), the country’s largest rubber producer, dropped 1.4 percent to 14.10 baht, the highest close since June 5. November-delivery rubber fell as much as 1.8 percent to 233 yen a kilogram ($2,931 a metric ton) before settling at 235.2 yen on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange.
