June 21 (Bloomberg) -- Barclays Plc said it hired Marco Oviedo as its chief economist for Mexico.
Oviedo previously worked as chief economic adviser for the staff of President Felipe Calderon, according to an internal memo obtained by Bloomberg. Seth Martin, a bank spokesman, confirmed the contents of the memo.
Oviedo will be based in Mexico City and report to Marcelo Salomon, Martin said.
