Princeton University, Wellesley College and the University of Baltimore are among 15 schools awarded grants for their support of faculty transitioning to retirement.
The schools will receive $100,000 each from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation in conjunction with the American Council on Education, according to a statement released yesterday. The funds will be used by the institutions to further their practices.
The winners work with professors to develop legacies before they stop working, aid in the transition to retirement and help retirees remain engaged in higher education.
The other recipients were Albright College, Carleton College, Mount Holyoke College, Skidmore College, Bentley University, San Jose State University, Xavier University, George Mason University, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of California at Davis, University of Southern California and the University of Washington.
