June 7 (Bloomberg) -- The 30-stock Micex Index rose 1.8 percent to 1,336.33 by the close in Moscow.
The following were among the most active stocks in the Russian market today. Stock symbols are in parenthesis.
OAO Novatek (NVTK RX) jumped 5.9 percent to 319.80 rubles, the biggest gain since July 21. Russia’s second-biggest natural gas producer may buy back up to $600 million shares in the next twelve months, the company said. The stock rose 7 percent to $107 in London.
OAO RusHydro (HYDR RX) added 4.7 percent to 85.03 kopeks, the strongest price since May 16. OAO Inter RAO UES (IRAO RX) rose 1 percent to 2.7719 kopeks. The power utilities gained after Russia’s Economy Minister Andrei Belousov said the state will sell its entire stake in the companies by 2016.
OAO Severstal (CHMF RX) jumped 3 percent to 386.20 rubles, the highest level since May 3. Russia’s second-largest steel producer, jumped after Moody’s Investors Service raised the company’s rating to one step below investment grade, citing profitability and “healthy” cash flow.
OAO Transneft (TRNFP RX) rose 4.2 percent to 44,341 rubles, the biggest gain since May 24. Russia’s oil-pipeline operator surged after the Economy Minister said the state will retain its majority stake in the company.
