May 29 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies had unusual price changes in Sao Paulo trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as of the close. Preferred shares are usually the most-traded class of stock.
The Bovespa Index fell 1 percent to 54,633.06.
Kroton Educacional SA (KROT11 BS), Brazil’s second-biggest education company, rose 4.9 percent to 28.75 reais, the most since Aug. 30. The company said its Editora e Distribuidora Educacional SA unit acquired college operator Grupo Uniasselvi for 510 million reais ($256 million).
Cia de Gas de Sao Paulo (CGAS3 BS) advanced 1.1 percent to 38 reais. Cosan SA Industria e Comercio said in a regulatory filing it completed an agreement to buy BG Group Plc’s 60.1 percent stake in Comgas, as the distributor of natural gas throughout the state of Sao Paulo is known, for 3.4 billion reais. The deal was announced earlier this month. Cosan lost 0.6 percent to 29.43 reais.
Cia de Transmissao de Energia Eletrica Paulista (TRPL4 BS) fell 2.5 percent to 59.80 reais, the lowest in two months, after the company’s board approved the acquisition of Evrecy Participacoes Ltda. from EDP Energias do Brasil SA for 58.43 million reais.
