May 28 (Bloomberg) -- The 30-stock Micex Index rose 0.7 percent to 1,290.72 by the close in Moscow. The dollar-denominated RTS Index gained 0.4 percent to 1,277.15.
The following were among the most active stocks in the Russian market today. Stock symbols are in parenthesis.
OAO Lukoil (LKOH RX) climbed 2 percent to 1,669.30 rubles, the highest level since May 15. Russia’s second-largest oil company posted a 7.7 percent profit increase in the first quarter as crude prices rose.
OAO Mobile TeleSystems (MTSS RX) added 4.6 percent to 228.79 rubles, the highest price since May 10. AFK Sistema (AFKS RX) rose for the third day, gaining 3 percent to 23.492 rubles. Russia’s biggest mobile-phone operator and its controlling shareholder were ranked together with the fourth-biggest weighting in MSCI Inc.’s Russia 10/40 index today, according to MSCI data. About $550 million may be invested in MTS’s shares and about $150 million into Sistema’s as a result of the changes, which come into effect May 31, according to Troika Dialog.
OAO Novatek (NVTK RX) dropped 0.3 percent to 301.55 rubles. MSCI Inc. reduced the weighting of Russia’s second-biggest natural gas producer in its 10/40 index, according to Troika Dialog.
TNK-BP Holding (TNBP RX) added 0.8 percent to 84.70 rubles after losing as much as 0.8 percent to 83.30 rubles earlier. BP Plc’s Russian venture said billionaire shareholder Mikhail Fridman resigned as chief executive officer and the company will be run by a group of executives.
