May 16 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama’s re-election effort raised more than $43.6 million in April, the campaign announced in a Twitter message this morning.
The campaign said it collected money from 437,323 people, including 169,500 first-time donors, in April. The average donation was $50.23, the campaign said.
“This election is going to be close,” campaign manager Jim Messina said in a YouTube video linked to the Twitter posting.
