May 9 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Taipei.
The benchmark Taiex Index fell 0.9 percent to 7,475.71, the lowest close since Jan. 30.
AU Optronics Corp. (2409 TT) retreated 1.9 percent to NT$13.10. Taiwan’s second-largest flat panel maker said April sales fell 6.2 percent from a year earlier to NT$29.17 billion, according to a statement to the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
E Ink Holdings Inc. (8069 TT) slumped 6.8 percent to NT$28.60, the lowest close since May 13, 2009. The company cut salaries of executives by between 10 percent and 20 percent, according to a statement to the Taiwan Stocks Exchange. It will also implement unpaid leave for two days a month in May and June, according to statement.
Quanta Computer Inc. (2382 TT) lost 1.3 percent to NT$80.80. The world’s largest laptop maker said April revenue fell 22 percent from a year earlier to NT$67.76 billion ($2.3 billion), according to a statement filed to the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
United Microelectronics Corp. (2303 TT) slid 2 percent to NT$14.45. The world’s second-largest maker of contract chips said April sales fell 4.6 percent from a year earlier to NT$9.12 billion.
