May 9 (Bloomberg) -- MTN Ghana, a unit of MTN Group Ltd., and Expresso Telecom, Ghana’s fifth-largest mobile-phone operator, were fined for service contract breaches, Business Day reported, citing Paarock VanPercy, director-general of the Ghana National Communications Authority.
The two companies were fined almost $140,000 in total for failing to develop infrastructure and services in Ghana’s Ashanti, Eastern and Western Regions, the Johannesburg-based newspaper cited VanPercy as saying.
MTN Group isn’t aware of the fine, spokesman Rich Mkhondo said by phone from Johannesburg today.
