May 8 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Thailand trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Bangkok. The nation’s financial markets were shut yesterday for a holiday.
The SET Index rose 0.3 percent to 1,231.04, the eighth advance in nine days.
Advanced Info Service Pcl (ADVANC TB), Thailand’s biggest mobile phone company, jumped 5 percent to 189 baht, a record close. Net profit in the first quarter jumped 42 percent from a year earlier to 8.93 billion baht ($288 million).
SNC Former Pcl (SNC TB), a producer of air conditioner parts, slid 5 percent to 28.5 baht, the largest decrease since April 10. Profit in the first quarter dropped 24 percent to 134.2 million baht.
Thai Vegetable Oil Pcl (TVO TB), the nation’s largest soybean supplier, dropped 2.2 percent to 22.20 baht, the most since March 22. Soybean futures for July delivery yesterday fell 0.8 percent to close at $14.6575 a bushel on the Chicago Board of Trade yesterday, the fourth drop in five sessions.
