May 8 (Bloomberg) -- Singapore’s Straits Times Index added 0.2 percent to 2,931.98 at the close. Almost two shares rose for each that fell on the 30-member gauge.
The following were among the most active shares in the market. Stock symbols are in parentheses after company names.
AusGroup Ltd. (AUSG SP) advanced 2.9 percent to 36 Singapore cents after the provider of engineering services to the mining and energy industries won an A$11 million ($11.2 million) contract from Australia’s Cooperative Bulk Handling Ltd.
CWT Ltd. (CWT SP) jumped 6.2 percent to S$1.28 after the logistics company said first-quarter profit tripled to S$26.4 million ($21.2 million) from S$8.4 million a year earlier.
Osim International Ltd. (OSIM SP), the biggest maker of massage chairs in Asia outside of Japan, added 0.8 percent to S$1.265 after saying first-quarter net income increased 10 percent to S$22.2 million from a year earlier.
SIA Engineering Co. (SIE SP) gained 1.8 percent to S$4.06 after the aircraft maintenance unit of Singapore Airlines Ltd. reported fourth-quarter profit rose 8.9 percent to S$66.3 million from a year earlier.
YHI International Ltd. (YHI SP) sank 6 percent to 31.5 Singapore cents after the tire distributor said first-quarter net income dropped 13 percent to S$5.5 million from a year ago.
