May 7 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies had unusual price changes in Sao Paulo trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close. Preferred shares are usually the most-traded class of stock.
The Bovespa Index climbed 0.7 percent to 61,220.43.
Anhanguera Educacional Participacoes SA (AEDU3 BS) added 5.3 percent to 27.05 reais. Brazil’s largest education company by market value said its first-quarter net income rose 34 percent from a year earlier to 62 million reais ($32.3 million), exceeding an estimate for profit of 58.4 million reais by analysts at Fator Corretora.
Hypermarcas SA (HYPE3 BS) jumped 5.8 percent to 12.68 reais. The consumer-goods maker gained the most in eight weeks after reporting first-quarter net income increased 24 percent to 40.8 million reais.
Sao Paulo Alpargatas SA (ALPA4 BS) slid 0.3 percent to 15.40 reais after earlier dropping as much as 5.5 percent. The maker of Havaianas flip-flops said net income fell 10 percent to 78.2 million reais in the first quarter.
