United Targets Modric, De Marcos
Manchester United is targeting Tottenham Hotspur’s Luka Modric, who is valued at 40 million pounds ($64 million), the Daily Star reported. United is the “firm favorite” to sign the midfielder this summer, ahead of Chelsea and Manchester City, the newspaper said.
United is also trying to sign Athletic Bilbao midfielder Oscar de Marcos, the Daily Mirror reported.
United manager Alex Ferguson is sending a scout to watch De Marcos play against Sporting Lisbon in the first leg of the Europa League semifinal tonight. De Marcos is valued at 26 million pounds.
Germans Chasing Dzeko
Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are chasing Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko, the Daily Mail reported. City wants at least 20 million pounds for the Bosnian striker, the paper said.
Dempsey to Roma?
AS Roma may bid as much as 7 million pounds for Fulham top scorer Clint Dempsey at the end of the season, the Sun reported.
The American, who has scored 16 goals this season, will be out of contract in 2013. Arsenal is also interested in Dempsey, the paper said.
