German labor union Ver.di called on bank employees in certain areas of the country to go on strike for several hours at the end of the month in a pay dispute, Sueddeutsche Zeitung said, citing Verdi negotiator Beate Mensch.

Ver.di is demanding a 6 percent wage increase for 220,000 workers and employers have yet to make an offer after two rounds of negotiations, the Munich-based newspaper cited Mensch as saying in an interview.
