Exxon Mobil Has Hydrogen Sulfide Release at Texas Refinery

April 14 (Bloomberg) -- Exxon Mobil Corp. reported the power failure of a compressor led to the release of 100 pounds of hydrogen sulfide into the atmosphere at its refinery in Beaumont, Texas, according to a filing with the National Response Center.

The incident happened at 10:35 a.m. local time yesterday, the filing said.

U.S. refineries must notify the response center if they release hazardous substances in excess of reportable quantities, according to the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act, commonly known as Superfund.
