April 12 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Taipei.
The benchmark Taiex Index rose 0.1 percent to 7,662.92.
Solar, LED Stocks: Taiwan plans to allow state-owned Taiwan Power to raise electricity prices, Hwang Jung-chiou, vice minister of economic affairs, said yesterday. Everlight Electronics Co. (2393 TT) advanced 3.9 percent to NT$61.30, the biggest jump since March 8. E-Ton Solar Tech Ltd. (3452 TT) jumped 6.7 percent to NT$17.45, the highest close since March 27. Epistar Corp. (2448 TT) advanced 4.2 percent to NT$75, the biggest gain since March 22.
TPK Holding Co. (3673 TT) gained 2.4 percent to NT$458 after the Economic Daily News cited unnamed foreign investors as forecasting earnings will rise this year on growth in sales of large-sized touch panels. The company will hold an investors conference on first-quarter earnings on April 25. Chief Financial Officer Freddie Liu didn’t immediately answer calls to his office today.
