April 7 (Bloomberg) -- The New York Mets signed left-handed pitcher Jonathon Niese to a five-year contract extension, the Major League Baseball team said in a statement.
Niese, 25, was 11-11 with a 4.40 earned run average in 27 games, with 26 starts, last season. He’s 22-23 with a 4.39 ERA in 65 games since making his major-league debut in 2008.
The Mets didn’t disclose financial terms of the contract, which includes two additional club option years that would keep Niese with the team through 2018.
