March 31 (Bloomberg) -- At least 17 Yemeni soldiers and 13 suspected al-Qaeda militants were killed in heavy fighting today in the southern province of Lahj, a military official said.
The official, who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said by phone that the militants attacked Brigade 119 in Millah district in Lahj, killing 17 soldiers and wounding 15 others. He also said 13 militants were killed in the fighting, adding that the militants briefly took control of the camp and the army used aircraft to drive them out.
