Colombian Stocks: Pacific Rubiales Energy, Canacol Energy

The following companies had unusual price changes in Bogota trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close of trading.

The IGBC Index rose 0.4 percent to 15,014.85, while the Colcap Index was little changed at 1,737.36.

Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp. (PREC CB), the Toronto-based oil producer that operates fields in Colombia, gained 2.2 percent to 51,600 pesos. Pacific Rubiales plans to begin sales of liquefied natural gas in the fourth quarter of 2014 as it develops reserves in northern Colombia. The company agreed to buy services that include storing liquefied natural gas from Belgica Exmar NV, according to a statement last night on the website of Colombia’s financial regulator.

Oil industry companies sank in line with crude prices in New York, after a U.S. Energy Department report showed that inventories climbed more than forecast as imports surged.

Canacol Energy Ltd. (CNEC CB), the Calgary-based oil company that operates fields in Colombia, fell 2.4 percent to 1645 pesos. Ecopetrol SA (ECOPETL CB), Colombia’s largest oil company, fell 0.4 percent to 5,380 pesos. Petrominerales Ltd. (PMGC CB), a Calgary-based company that explores for and produces oil in Colombia, fell 1.2 percent to 31,400 pesos.
