Brazilian Stock Movers: BM&FBovespa, MMX, Rossi Residencial

The following companies had unusual price changes in Sao Paulo trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close of trading. Preferred shares are usually the most-traded class of stock.

The Bovespa index lost 1.5 percent to 65,079.34.

BM&FBovespa SA (BVMF3 BS) slid 2.6 percent to 11.69 reais. The operator of Brazil’s biggest securities exchange said a local court ordered it to pay 8.42 billion reais ($4.62 billion) in a civil case related to central bank futures trading near the time of the 1999 currency devaluation.

MMX Mineracao & Metalicos SA (MMXM3 BS) lost 0.7 percent to 9.10 reais. The mining company controlled by Brazilian billionaire Eike Batista said fourth-quarter profit declined 4.8 percent after heavy rain curbed iron ore production, according to a regulatory filing late yesterday.

Rossi Residencial SA (RSID3 BS) gained 0.7 percent to 10.33 reais. The homebuilder reported adjusted net income of 87 million reais in the fourth quarter, exceeding the average estimate among 10 analysts surveyed by Bloomberg.
