March 27 (Bloomberg) -- Africa Oil Corp., the Canadian exploration company, said it began a drilling campaign in the first quarter that includes a plan to drill as many as five wells in the Kenya-Ethiopia Tertiary Basin over the next 18 months.
Africa Oil Chief Operating Officer James Phillips spoke today at the Eastern Africa Oil, Gas & Energy Week in Nairobi, the Kenyan capital. Africa Oil is Tullow Oil Plc’s partner in the Ngamia-1 exploration well in Kenya, site of the country’s first oil discovery that was announced yesterday.
“We are hopeful that we have some further good surprises ahead this year” on Ngamia-1, Phillips said.
