March 25 (Bloomberg) -- No. 14 seed Ferris State University and third-seeded Union College advanced to the semifinals of the national men’s college ice hockey tournament.
Ferris State beat No. 8 seed Cornell 2-1 and Union defeated 13th-seeded Massachusetts-Lowell 4-2 yesterday in the second round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament.
In the second day of the first round games, No. 5 Minnesota-Duluth beat No. 11 Maine 5-2; No. 4 North Dakota topped Western Michigan 3-1; No. 1 Boston College eliminated 16th-seeded Air Force 2-0; and No. 6 Minnesota defeated eighth-seeded Boston University 7-3.
Boston College plays Minnesota-Duluth and North Dakota meets Minnesota today in the remainder of the second-round games.
The semifinals will be held April 5 with the championship game April 7 in Tampa, Florida.
