March 23 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies had unusual price changes in Mexico trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 2 p.m. local time.
The IPC index was little changed at 38,334.90.
Companies in the financial industry gained after Mexico’s statistics agency said growth in January, as measured by the global economic indicator, increased from a year earlier at the fastest pace since September.
Compartamos SAB (COMPARC* MM), the holding company that controls low-income lender Banco Compartamos SA, gained 0.6 percent to 14.21 pesos. Grupo Financiero Banorte SAB (GFNORTEO MM) gained 0.4 percent to 56.43 pesos.
Mexichem SAB (MEXCHEM* MM), the chemical producer that has bought more than 15 companies since 2007, gained 1.2 percent to 47.29 pesos. Preliminary first-quarter sales increased 11 percent to 13.5 billion pesos ($1.1 billion) from a year earlier, the company said in a statement to the stock exchange.
