March 22 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Taipei.
The benchmark Taiex Index rose 1 percent to 8,059.94, its steepest increase since March 14.
Far Eastern New Century Corp. (1402 TT) climbed 0.9 percent to NT$34.15, its biggest gain since March 13. The textile company proposed a cash dividend of NT$1.70 per share and a stock dividend for 2011 earnings, it said in a statement.
Pegatron Corp. (4938 TT), a maker of Apple Inc.’s iPhones, surged 7 percent to NT$45.40, a record close. The company reported fourth-quarter net income of NT$1 billion ($34 million), beating analysts’ estimates of NT$771 million.
Tatung Co. (2371 TT), a maker of electrical and computer products, gained 1.8 percent to NT$9.64, the most since Feb. 23. The company may attract investments from Chinese developers for vast land it owns after Taiwan eases curbs on Chinese investments, the Liberty Times reported. Tatung declined to comment, according to the report.
